New York Photo Album- Chapter One

Hi hi,

I hope you are all doing great, I'm doing very well. The last few weeks were very hectic, we were in Los Angeles then almost immediately after we flew to New York. And now in about a week we are leaving again to San Francisco.

We just got back from New York and I miss it already, I wanna go back. It was my first time in New York and the east coast for that matter. On our flight back I was getting mild anxiety, knowing that my vacation is over and now I'm back to reality. This always happens where I don't want it to end. :(. I'm in love with the city, though the weather will NEVER compare to San Diego, I would not mind living here. Everything is fast paced, people walk faster, even when they don't need to, everyone is up until the wee hours of the morning- no seriously, this city does not sleep-, the metro system is unbelievably convenient, besides the street hot dogs, which I weirdly had high hopes for but failed to deliver, everything else we ate was outstanding.

Please enjoy my photo album:

There are so many projects dedicated to local artists and we got to visit a few of them. The Market NYC in Greenwich, and in Chelsea there is Story and Artists & Fleas.

I took so many pictures but I have only posted highlights of the trip. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy. I will post more on chapter two of my trip.

Sincerely
K.

Fourth of July

Hi hi,

I hope you are all doing well and excited a four day weekend. I'm doing great. Yes! it is that time of the year again. Fourth of July. I thought I should share some party and entertaining ideas, if you're planning on hosting a fourth of July party in your backyard.

1. FOOD
If you are having a party, good food that everyone can enjoy is essential. Nothing screams America like good  burgers and hot dogs.

2. SNACKS
We all love to snack, make these amazing patriotic chocolate dipped pretzels, and fill up your candy bar with licorice wraps

3. FUN GAMES

Let the games begin. Games are a fun way to get everyone excited. Set up your backyard with a ring toss game station or a sack race tournament and watch everyone have fun.

4. COOL OFF
Seat back and cool off with strawberry icecream and with these delicious blueberry ice pops.

5. DRINKS

It's summer and you will be out in the hot sun, refreshing cocktails like coconut berry spritzer and jack and coke will sure have your neighbors crashing your party.

6. SPARKLERS

It is not fourth of July without fireworks. As the night sets in, light up these fun hand held sparklers end your night with a bang!

Happy fourth of July, have fun and be safe. Thank you for reading.

Sincerely
K.

KATSUYA

Hi hi,

I hope you are all doing well, I'm doing great and on day three of my semi-master cleanse and so far I have lost two pounds.
Anyway, so last night our friend Kevin, invited Chris, Trina and I to Katsuya, which is part of  The Andaz Hotel, for a complementary dinner to try out their new menu. We have never been here before but we were so excited for some free food, as anyone would be.

Let's start with the ambiance, well, think of Mizumi at The Wynn, Las Vegas, the red and white decor, mimicking the Japanese flag, this place has the same feel. Very fancy I must say. From the tall bar stools, to the open floor plan that flows very well through the entire restaurant, the open kitchen, large windows and doors, gigantic crystal chandeliers, leather benches and the perfectly curated close-ups of high resolution photos that accentuated the contours of a woman's individual facial features.

Did I mention how amazing the service was. Our waiter was beyond great, the food came out at the perfect timing. There is nothing as irritating as waiting for what would seem like hours for food. He checked on us every time, the manager stopped by our tables, the busboy was outstanding, I'm sure if we asked for the chef he would have stopped by too.

The Food:

When you hear, complementary food, you would generally not expect good food. I must say, that was our reaction too. How can I describe the food, everything we ate we thought it was better than the last thing we had just had. By the way, not all the pictures made it to the blog. At the end of our dinner we tried to rate all twelve dishes we had we could not all agree on what the best dish was. Some really, liked the pork belly sliders, some liked the smoked albacore with crispy onions, (never made it to the blog) and we could not agree on which creme brulee we liked out of the three.Yes everything was that good. If I may take the words right out of Joe Bastianich's mouth, the flavors did come together like an orchestra playing a symphony all at the same time.-good one Joe-.

I really do hope you try Katsuya, It is amazing.
Thank you for reading and please leave comments.

Sincerely
K.

Dinner + A Band

Hi hi,

I hope you are all doing fantastic. So far I'm doing good. We are back to San Diego and now getting ready for our next trip to NYC in a couple of days.We had so much fun in LA, and we got to hang out with our friend Kevin. That pie you see at the top might as well be one of the best pizza's I've ever had. Any way you slice it, All'Angolo's is where it's at. This little hole-in-a-wall is tucked in the heart of Korea Town. It seats about, fifteen to twenty and there is some outside sitting, and the food is amazing. We got there around seven  pm, and the place got packed in a matter of minutes. Everything on the menu looked delicious and for sure this little Italian place is definitely on our list of places to eat next time we are in LA.

What we got:

Calamari Fritti- you will die for the sauce.
The Emiliana- mozzarella, prosciutto, parmigiano, arugula, balsamic vinegar.
The Capricciosa- tomato, mozzarella, olives, ham, artichoke, mushroom.

We asked Giuseppe Musso, the owner, what the secret to having such good food was and he told us that everything they used was fresh. Fresh veggies, great cuts of meat from the butcher, fresh homemade pizza dough, fresh pasta etc..This place sure is Sicily in America.

Did I mention how cute this place is? I think you should see it for yourself and let me know.

After we devoured our pies, we got down to why we were really in LA.
Meet George Lewis Jr, a.k.a, the man behind Twin Shadow.

This pic was borrowed from the net.

Ok, what can I say...just listen to this band and you'll know why we love it, and why Georgie loves Georgie.
This was yet another Goldenvoice production so it was bound to be good.
I have never been to The Fonda, but I must say that this is such a beautiful venue, even though a little bit of my heart belongs to The Casbah.

I hope you all enjoy Twin Shadow and enjoy eating at All'Angolo's. Let me know how you like both.Thank you for reading.
